In February 2004, Crestchic AP carried out a load test on the FPSO Marlim Sul (18MVA, 6.6kV, 60Hz) for Single Buoy Moorings (SBM). The challenge for this project was that the testing needed to be carried out in 2 phases - Phase 1 at quayside in the Keppel Tuas shipyard, and the Phase 2 offshore at the Jurong anchorage.
Crestchic AP was well-equipped to handle the capacity of test with over 60 MVA of loadbanks and transformers in stock. The test equipment was placed onboard a barge moored alongside the vessel during both phases, with close coordination with the barge supplier to lift and site the equipment.
To efficiently carry out the work and prevent delays, Crestchic AP provided on-the-spot services to connect, disconnect and re-connect between the 2 phases of testing. In Phase 2, our engineers made the trip to the offshore location daily.
The test was completed without problems and to the satisfaction of our customer.
A similar operation was done on sister vessel FPSO Capixaba in 2006.
In addition, Crestchic AP has also tested several semi-submersible rigs and jack-up rigs.
